PROFILE results have the entire QH school in a tizzy. Everyone is obsessed with finding out which of their classmates are predicted.

Daphne has just switched to QH school after her move. Everyone at school is talking about the program PROFILE. PROFILE predicts a student's future behavior.

After a shooting that took place at QH, Daphne has met a boy named Jesse (they are now boyfriend and girlfriend).

Daphne soon learns her mom, Melanie was the one who invented the program PROFILE.

Not only that, but her boyfriend, Jesse is predicted.

Everyone is taking the "predicted situation" very seriously. A separation between predicted and non-predicted is driving Daphne crazy. She thinks it is wrong for the predicted to be treated badly just because they are likely to do bad things in the future.

Can Daphne change people's views on the Predicted kids? How is Jesse and Daphne's relationship affected because Jesse is predicted? Read The Predicted to find out.

I thought this was a great book. I enjoyed the story line. It was cool how PROFILE could predict peoples' future.

I recommend this book to girls 14 or older because the novel does have high school kids drinking. Also because some of the way the students act towards each other is not great for younger kids to read about.

Whit and Wisty Allgood have a gift, they each can do magic. Wisty has the power of fire and Whit can foresee the future.

The One, the head of the New Order, has taken over the government. He has banned music, books, art and anything that makes people happy. The One has taken Whit and Wisty's parents as well as Whit's girlfriend Celia.

Whit, Wisty as well as some of their friends are part of the Resistance- a group of children who are trying to overthrow the N.O.

Whit and Wisty use there magic and try to stop The One. Along the way the two siblings get themselves into a lot of trouble.

Can Whit and Wisty stop The One? Do they rescue Celia and their parents? Can they overthrow the N.O? Read Witch and Wizard- The Gift to find out.

I loved this book. It was very detailed and thrilling. I enjoyed that there was magic involved.

I recommend this book to children in 8th grade and older who like thrillers, slightly scary, a great story. I don't recommend anyone younger than 8th grade should read this book because it is very graphic and some of the problems the children go through are slightly disturbing. Aside being a thriller and a little disturbing for younger children it was a great book.

Alexa lives in Kendlenook, a village with her two sisters, Eva and Daria, along with the rest of the other fairies and creatures. The only creature that has encountered and believes in humans is the Dryard Ispirianza. Just like Ispirianza, Alexa met a human girl,Elsie. The village of Kendlenook has been worried about The Scarring, a power which destroys nature created by humans, for a very long time. They never thought it would come so soon.

The Scarring has finally reached Kendlenook. It is up to Alexa, the chosen fairy to stop the Scarring. It is a dangerous and difficult journey she must accomplish.

Alexa must go to Evernaught, and steal candledark, capture her shadowfairy, convince it to giver her silk and make her way to the human realm.

Alexa meets Mara, a firefairy. Mara helps Alexa to complete her mission of stealing the candledark and capturing her shadowfairy. The two fairies go through a lot of trouble. They must fight of Oths, evil fairies who believe lies are the right way of life. They also have to capture Alexa's shadowfairy.

Can Alexa and Mara steal the candledark, capture the shadowfairy and make it to the human realm in time? Will Alexa be able to stop the Scarring? Read Slightly Above Time to find out.

I recommend this book to girls in 4th grade who enjoys fantasy and fairies.

I enjoyed this book, however, it was a little young for me. The book had great details, very descriptive and the drawings were so realistic and cool.

Katniss lives in District 12 with her mom, sister Prim, her best friend Gale, Peete, the baker's son and the rest of the community.The leaders of the Capitol want to show they are in charge, so they create the Hunger Games to prove just that. Its that time of the year, the time to choose the a boy and girl from each district to fight to their death at the Hunger Games.

Katniss and Peete are chosen from District 12 to join the 22 other boys and girls in the fight to their death.

At the Hunger Games, Katniss and Peete do all they can to survive. Using their hunting, fighting, camouflage skills and allying with some of the other tributes, Katniss and Peete manage to survive. Peete even confesses his love for Katniss, hoping to convince everyone they are madly in love. They are hoping being in love with keep them alive in the games.

Some of the worst parts of the Hunger Games is watching the other tributes die, being put in the position of killing them, not knowing how you can survive and the Capitol doing all they can to make sure everyone dies but one.

Do Katniss and Peete live? Who is the survivor of the Hunger Games? Is Peete and Katniss's plan of being madly in love enough to keep them alive?

I loved the Hunger Games. It was amazing. I loved the great details, and the whole story line. The Hunger Games is one of the most addicting (in a good way) series I have ever read. I recommend this book for children 12 and up who enjoy action and slight romance. This is a fabulous book worth reading.

Little Women and Me by Lauren Baratz-Logsted

Emily hates being the middle child. The boy she likes, likes her older sister, Charlotte. When he isn't crushing on Charlotte, he has the hots for Emily's younger sister Anne. In other words, Charlotte and Anne get everything because they are the youngest and oldest daughter, leaving Emily with whatever is left.

An English assignment has driven Emily crazy. Which book should she choose? Maybe I should start from the beginning.

Emily's English teacher gave her an assignment to write an essay about three things she likes about a book, and one thing she would change. Emily first had to decide which book to choose. Finally she chose Little Women. Emily's plan was to change the fact that Beth dies and Laurie ends up with Jo, not Amy.

As Emily starts to read Little Women, when she is whisked into the story. Emily is now part of the book as the fifth March Sister.

Emily has to adapt to the way of life in the 1600s. And not only that, but she has to act as if she has always been part of the family.

Jo and Emily bump heads quite often because Jo has such a strong personality and Emily starts standing up for herself.

Emily has a very hard time making things right in the story. The worst part is, the only things she remembers is what happens in the original story.

Emily learns that nobody is perfect. She learns the life lesson that jealousy gets you nowhere.

Unfortunately Emily learns the hard way. Not only is she the middle child at home, but she is also the middle child in the story. Because of this, Emily has to learn to deal with her jealousy of Jo liking Laurie and the fact that Laurie doesn't like her, he likes Jo. Emily also has to understand that Jo is the writer of the family, and even though Emily loves to write, writing is Jo's thing.

As time goes on, Emily begins adapting to the way of life in the 1600s. She even stops worrying about her "real" life in the "real" world.

Emily is waiting for the opportunity so she can prevent Beth from dying. And no matter how hard Emily tries, she has no ideas how or when Beth is going to get sick.

Eventual Beth becomes sick. Emily tries to get rid of her sickness, but only delays the fact that Beth dies.

Does Emily stop Beth from dying? Will Emily make it home and out of the book? Does Emily learn that it is okay to be the middle child?

Read Little Women and Me to find out.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was a great twist on Little Women. However, I do recommend reading the original first because then this book makes more sense. I think any girl 12 years or older will like reading.

Going Underground by Susan Vaught

Del is a troubled boy... well he was, and three years later he is still paying for it.

Del works in a graveyard digging graves after school. He can't get jobs like most people can, or go to the college he wants, like most people his age. Del has a criminal record following him for the rest of his life.

It all started when he was 14. Del was a normal teenage boy playing baseball and hanging with friends. That all changed the night he and his friends were arrested by the police.

Now that is the story for Del to tell you. I can tell you this, Del's life was never and never will be the same again.

To find out Del's story and why his life has changed, you have to read Going Underground

I recommend this book to anyone 13 or older. This was a great book. However, because it does curse a little bit and the whole story of why Del is considered a criminal, this book is not appropriate for younger children.

Wanna know a great way to start the new year? You should definitely read the Guinness World Records 2012!

This year's edition has all new, exciting and interesting records about people, animals, talents, sports and so much more.

It is very cool to read about different attempts people have made to set new world records, and about those who have succeeded in breaking them.

Some of the records you read in this book are unbelievable and crazy. Reading this book is a great way learn random and interesting fact.

(see page 142 for the largest pizza, page 85 for the heaviest living person and page 78-79 for the most tattooed man)

I enjoyed reading Guinness World Records 2012 a lot. I think anyone who is fascinated with facts, pictures, and CRAZY and UNBELIEVABLE records will love reading this book.

First Ripley's Museum

Have you ever wondered about where Ripley's Museum first started? Or Where Mr. Riply's first lived? Or even how he started his love for crazy facts and people?

This summer I went to the first Riply's Believe It or Not Museum in St. Augustine, Florida.

It was a lot of fun. I saw all different things, such as the tallest man, the fattest man in the military, the smallest car, biggest shoe size; a size 22!!!!!

I saw some pretty crazy things.... Believe It or Not!!

I think everyone should visit the Museum, if not in Florida, then in New York City, or anyone near you. It is an AMAZING experience and a really fun time for children and and adults alike.

The Outsiders by S.E Hinton

Ponyboy, Soadapop, Dally, Steve, Johnny, Two-Bit and Darry are all Greasers. They are from the lower class of people.

One night Ponyboy was jumped by a gang of Socs (short for socials), Kids from the upper class. Ponyboy's brothers and the rest of the Greaser gang saved Ponyboy.

Johnny and Ponyboy went to the movies. There they met a couple of attractive Soc girls, Cherry and Marcia. Later during the movie Two- Bit met up with Ponyboy and Johnny. Johnny, Two- Bit and Ponyboy walk the girls to Two-Bit's house so he can drive them home. On they way home, The kids run into Marcia and Cherry's boyfriends, Randy and Bob. The girls were forced to go home with their boyfriends at that point so no fights would break out between the Socs and the Greasers.

Ponyboy is late getting home one night. Darry is really angry, so he and Ponyboy get into a fight. Darry then slapped Ponyboy across the face. Ponyboy was really angry and upset so he left the house and ran away.

Ponyboy ran to find Johnny. The two boys ran to the park. At the park, the boys ran into Bob and Randy and part of the Soc gang. One of the gang members took Ponyboy and was trying to drown him in the fountain. Johnny then killed Bob in order to rescue Ponyboy.

Johnny and Ponyboy go find Dally for help. Dally helps his friends to his best ability.

The Greasers and the Soc prepare for a rumble.

Who wins the rumble? Does Ponyboy finally return home? What happens as the rumble gets closer? How does Darry and Ponyboy's relationship change since Ponyboy ran away?

Read the Outsiders to find out.

I loved this book. I thought it was well written and had such a great plot and storyline. I liked the fact that the author portrayed the characters with characteristics that showed they had two side- a good and a bad side and how some of the characters were misunderstood. One thing I learned from this story not to judge people of mistreat them because of their class or how they act because you could completely misunderstand a person and you should never "judge a book person) by it's cover (outside). "

I recommend this book to anyone in middle school and older because it is has a great message and a good read to pass the time.

It is up to Violet to tell the world the truth of what really happened the night Renowean was murdered.

Violet is at the age where she is soon going to marry. Her mother wants her to marry a rich and well known man. That lucky man is Xavier Trenswithy, a rich, good looking man who a trader. Violet falls for him, but is not sure if she wants to marry him. She has also fallen for Colin, the poor orphan also good looking boy who works for Violet's mother.

Can Violet solve the murder before anything happens to Tabitha? Who was the murderer? Who does Violet end up marrying?

I enjoyed this thrilling, creepy murder mystery book. I did scare me a bit I still could not put it down. It was well written, had great details and a surprise ending that you are not going to want to miss. I do think this book was written for ages 14 and up because of some language.

The plot and the well written details may be to old for some children. However, if you enjoy thrilling murder mystery books you will definitely enjoy this book.

The Fire Throne by Rick Riordan

Apophis, the Chaos snake is rising. It is up to Carter and Sadie Kane to stop him with the help of the new trainees. Sadie and Carter are planning to find and bring the Sun God, Ra back to help defeat Apophis. Unfortunately, no one knows where Ra is. In order to find Ra, the Kane kids have to first find the Book of Ra and learn how to chant the spells. Rumor has it that Ra, the Sun God is senile and completely out of it. How will this affect their journey?

Throughout the book, Carter and Sadie both deal with their personal love life. As you remember in the Red Pyramid Carter fell in love with Zia's Shabtai, now he is on a mission to find the "real" Zia and hopes she remembers him and still likes him. Sadie on the other hand is falling for Anubis, the God of Death, and Walt, who is a decedent from a cursed family line.

Will Sadie and Carter find the Book of Ra and learn how to chant the spells in time to bring Ra back and defeat Apophis? Will Ra be of any use once he is found? Will Zia remember Carter? What about Sadie, who does she end up falling in love with?

I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the thrilling adventures and gambles the characters face. I love the story line and how the characters have to use magic. This book has many twists and turns and very surprising actions that will keep you in suspense and you'llwant to keep reading the book and not put it down. As I loved the book, I did find the ending a little bit of a disappointment, however, the action and thrills of the rest of the story made up for the ending.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thrilling, magic filled adventures with a bit of romance and tons of action. I also think anyone who likes Rick Riordan's books should read this.

TuTu loves to be green and save the Earth. She and her parents do whatever they can to save the planet.

In this short picture book for young children TuTu teaches a very valuable lesson to be green and teaches you some ways to do it.

I would recommend this book to any child in preschool until first grade because it is a great picture book for young readers. Also it is very important to save the Earth and go green and this book give explanations and tips on how to be green. I also think the pictures are very well drawn and this is a very kid-friendly book.

I enjoy reading very much. I just hate needing to fold down the corners to mark my page that I am on. It just makes the book look so old and ruined. At BEA this year I came across a booth- Trends International where I saw they were displaying bookmarks. I was looking at all sorts of different kinds. One really caught my eye. It was a Tinker Bell Cool Clip. It makes reading very fun, now being able to mark my page and see a very colorful, cute and fun character holding my place.

I would recommend these bookmarks to any age because there is a character for all ages to enjoy.

OyMG by Amy Fellner Dominy

OyMG is about Ellie Jane Taylor, a Jewish girl who lives with her brother Benny (Jewish), Mom (Jewish) and Dad (Lutheran). She lives down the street from her very religious Zeydeh. Ellie loves to argue about anything and everything. She is accepted to a Christian debate camp, and if she wins the oratory tournament she could get a scholarship to Benedict school. Zeydeh is not so happy that Ellie is going to a Christian camp.

At camp, Ellie falls for her competition, Devon Yetes, the grandson of Doris Yetes. Doris Yetes is the woman who started and gives out the scholarships. Ellie is asked by Doris to have an interview. Devon warns Ellie to put her Bubbe's Jewish star necklace away because Doris Yetes is kind of "weird" about Jewish people. Doris gave Ellie a scholarship form to fill out questions. Ellie wasn't sure what she should put as her religion. She put Christian, technically she was half and half so she wasn't completely lying. Of course, Zeydeh was not happy about this. Ellie explained to her parents her reasons for writing Christian.

Doris Yetes sees so much of herself in Ellie.

Throughout the story you learn about Ellie's struggles about friends, family,religion and who she really is as a person.

Does Ellie end up getting the scholarship? Does she change her religion on the form? Does Ellie learn to stand up for what is right even if she isn't sure who is standing with her? Does Ellie end up going to Benedict school?

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. You learned about the struggle any Jewish person faces, no matter the age, by being proud of their religion. You also learn about how people can be antisametic because of a person's religion. This book shows how in real life you are going to be faced with many difficult decisions, struggles and choices but you will always have friends, family, and teachers guiding your way and helping you. I would recommend this book to 7th graders and up because it has a great message about friendship, family, love and about being proud of your religion.

The Candy Shop War by Brandon Mull

The children are sent out on missions to retrieve special and secretive items for Mrs. White. As rewards, Pigeon, Nate, Summer and Trevor are given new, secret, magical candy to test out and keep. The four children soon learn that Mrs. White and Mr. Scott, the ice cream man, are magicians. Mrs. White sends the children on crazy missions so she can get rid of Mr. Scott. But why? It turns out that Mrs. White is seeking a special treasure, and Mr. Scott is trying to to protect it. Mrs. White wants the four children to brainwash Mr. Scott. Summer and Pigeon refuse, so they are immediately excluded from getting the magical candy, going on missions and working for Mrs. White. Nate and Trevor agreed to brainwash Mr. Scott. However, they do their best to avoid actually doing it. After Nate, Pigeon, Trevor and Summer betray Mrs. White, the four children do whatever it takes to help Mr. Scott to protect the treasure.

Who end up with the treasure? What happens to everyone in the end? Does Mrs. White end up with the treasure?

I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought it had a great story, and a bunch of twists that kept you really interested in reading the book. I recommend this book to fifth graders and up.

Sean Grinswold's Head by LIndsey Leavitt

Payton Gritas is living a happy, normal life. One day when Payton gets home, she discovers her dad has Multiple Sclerosis. Her parents haven't told her about it and the fact that her dad had it for over 6 months and she had no clue. Payton was angry at her parents for not telling her and lying to her her. She refused to talk to them. It's been a few days since Payton has talked to her parent, and she now has to see the school guidance counselor.

The guidance counselor suggests to Payton to pick a focus object, something to help her express her emotions. Payton picks Sean Grinswold's head.

Throughout the process, Payton begins having a crush on Sean.

Payton hasn't told anyone about her dad except her best friend Jac.

One day Payton goes on a bike ride with Sean, in order to find out more about him. During the ride, Payton tells Sean everything.... except how he is her focus object.

Sean tells Payton he will help her prepare for a bike-a-thon to raise money for MS.

Throughout the story, Payton learns to deal with her dad's MS, her boy-crazy best friend Jac, learns more about Sean and discovers who she is as a person.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I had a very difficult time putting it down. I thought the story if how Payton dealt with her dad's MS and tried to do something about it was inspiring. If you are able to help raise money to fight off a disease, you should. I also liked how the story had such great details and you could picture what was going on in your mind. If you like romantic, dramatic, life changing novels and you re 13- 15 years old, you should read this book.

He doesn't know what to do. His parents are divorced because of money. They are poor. He decides to take the card. Hoe puts the card in his backpack. Whenever Joe touches a baseball card he gets a tingling sensation.

When Joe got to his house, he went to his room. That night he heard somebody in his room. He opened his eyes. What did he see? Read this book to find out what happens....

I think people who like baseball and fiction should read this book.

Dr. Brewer is doing plant experiments down in the basement. Margaret and Casey Brewer think he is in the basement to much, especially when Mrs. Brewer goes away to see her sister. Dr. Brewer spent even more time down there while Mrs. Brewer was away. Margaret and Casey were really worried when Dr. Brewer started wearing a Dodgers hat a lot, and he ate plant food. Also, Dr. Brewer said they can't go in the basement. What will they do? Read this book to find out. This book has secrets, scares and interesting plants and more.

I recommend this book for 7-10 years old that like scary and mysterious stories.

Behind the Bedroom Wall by Laura E. Williams

Korinna, Eva and Rita are German lovers, Jew haters and Adolf Hitler followers. It is their job to turn Jew-lovers and unloyal Germans into the police. Korinna believes EVERYTHING Hitler says and does. One night Korinna hears scratching behind her wall. She walks over and moves her wardrobe. To her surprise, she sees a Jewish mom and daughter hiding in a small hole in HER wall. Her parents explain to her how their house is part of an escape route for Jews. Karinna is upset and shocked.

Korinna couldn't understand why her mom was being so nice to the Jews. After a while Korinna takes a liking to Rachel and Sophie, the daughter and mom behind the wall. Rita, one of Korinna's best friends, thinks Korinna is hiding something. Of course she is.

German soldiers are constantly keeping an eye on Korinna's house. Always searching the place.

Do Sophie and Rachel escape to freedom? Does anyone find out about Korinna's secret? Does Korinna finally learn the importance of freedom and love? Read Behind the Bedroom Wall to find out.

I really enjoyed Behind the Bedroom Wall. At times, I did find it scary. Since the book was based on the Holocaust, the thought of the events really happening was a big awakening.

I would recommend this book to any seventh grader or older who is interested in the Holocaust. I would not suggest children under the age of eleven to read the book.

Me: What or Who inspires you to write?

Julie Berry: Good writing inspires me to write. All the wonderful books I've devoured and adored have filled me with happy sort of jealousy that made me want to try and see if I could also write a story worth reading.

Me: How old were you when you started writing?

JB: I started keeping a journal faithfully when I was nine years old. I got it for Christmas that year, and wrote just about every day until I was twenty. I spent my twenties starting my career and having my four sons, so the only writing I did was work related, with some occasional creative writing and journal writing thrown in. At age thirty I began to write columns for my local newspaper, and after I'd done that for a few years I went to graduate school to study fiction writing for children and young adults.

Me: Do you ever have a hard time figuring out what to write?

JB: Sometimes it is hard to decide which of the many ideas floating through your head is ripe enough to turn into a good novel. You don't always know until you write a book just exactly where an dea will tale you.

Me: What gave you the idea for "Secondhand Charm"?

JB: The notion of good luck charms and love potions, such as you might buy from someone at a fair, was the idea that first pulled me into the story. I thought, what if there was someone who wore these charms, and they really worked, but only for her? That seemed promising. Then I had to ask myself, why did they work for her? What made her different? Where did that difference come from? The rest of the story came into place from that line of questioning. I loved stories about the sea, and magical allure of the ocean.

ME: Do YOU believe in magic?

JB: Yes and no. mainly yes. I believe in possibilities, and certainly I believe in grace and miracles. For all our knowledge, there's much we can't explain or understand, and so I try to keep a cautiously open mind. But I use magic in stories because of the creative possibilities it offers me, not because I believe in actual sorcery and so forth.

Annabeth, Piper, Jason and Leo are four friends. Together they must complete a quest. Each friend has his or her own story and secret as the reasons they want to go on the quest.

Annabeth- Annabeth's boyfriend, Percy Jackson, is missing and she doesn't know why. All she wants to do is find him. At the same time Annabeth helps Leo and Piper to fulfill their great prophecy.

Piper- Piper has a secret. Her dad, a famous actor has been taken by a spirit who keeps threatening her and telling her what she must do or her dad will die. Piper has visions of her dad and what is really happening to him. The worst part is Piper can't say anything to anyone about her dad.

Leo- Leo is a tool- loving, machine- building kind of kid. He can make fire come out of his hands (no demigod has been able to do that for a very long time). He has just been claimed by the god of fire and tools, Hephatus.

Jason- Jason ends up on a school trip, in a bus with people he doesn't know, but they claim to know him. Jason thinks he has amnesia, can't remember his own name or anything about himself. Soon enough, Jason is brought to camp Halfblood. There he learns his memory was stolen by the goddess, Hera. Jason is soon claimed by the god Zeus. Jason is given the Great Prophecy which now he must fulfill.

Read this action-packed, twisting book to discover the adventures of Annabeth, Jason, Piper and Leo.

I loved this book. I loved all of the action and twists. I enjoyed that it was based on mythology. I think any chid who enjoyed the Percy Jackson series would like this book because it is a similar story line and has the same feeling, action and excitement in the book and relationships between the characters.

Well I have to read some more,

We LOVED the book Dear Hound by Jill Murphy. Alfie, a very big, caring, friendly deerhound who could communicate with his ears, is afraid of lightning and is the main character of the story. Alfie, lives with a boy named Charlie, his mom and cat named Florence. Charlie and his mom went to a wedding, and Alfie went to the dog sitter's house near the woods. Alfie was so nervous Charlie was giving him away. ZING! Alfie jumps over the fence and tries to run home to safety. He ran into the dark, thick scary woods. Along the way he met foxes, hunters and lightning...

Will Alfie be be home and safe again?

I sent E.D. Baker some questions--through Kate Lied, the awesome editor at Bloomsbury! E.D. Baker was so generous with her time and so here is my interview. Thank you SO much E.D. Baker, this really means a lot to me and the readers of my blog!!

Mollie Kate: How do you feel about finishing the series?

E.D. Baker: I've thoroughly enjoyed writing the tales of the Frog Princess and will miss writing about many of the characters. However, I do intend to revisit a few of the characters again sometime in the future. I think Zoe and Frances need their own story and I really want to write abut Pearl.

MK: What or who inspires you to write?

EDB: A lot of the animals in my life inspire me when I'm creating characters or creatures. We breed horses, and they inspired me when I created the hipporines in Wings: A Fairy Tale. We have two Newfoundlands and a black lab. The masses of fur they shed helped me created the black fur beast in The Wide Awake Princess. I'm also inspired by things I've read, like the classic fairy tales (The Frog Princess and The Wide Awake Princess), Shakespeare (Wings: A Fairy Tale), and non-fiction books such as Wicked Plants by Amy Stewart (the stinging tree in A Prince Among Frogs).

MK: How did you feel about your book being made into a movie?

EDB: I was excited, although disappointed that it really didn't follow my story.

MK: how old were you when you started writing?

EDB: Eleven-years old. I wrote a story for an assignment in school and was hooked.

MK: Do you ever have a hard time figuring out what to write?

EDB: Not really. I have a long list of books that I intend to write someday, so I always know what my next book will be. When I'm writing a book, I do different levels of outlines--a very general outline at first, then one broken down into chapters, then more specific outlines as I'm writing each chapter. I've found that outlining like this really helps me know what to write next. I don't generally get writer's block because when I can't figure out where to go with one think, I work on something that I think will be fun--like a spell for the tales of the Forg Princess.

MK: Who is your favorite writer?

EDB: my favoirte writer has long been Hodgson Burnett, the author of The Little Princess and The Secret Garden.

MK: What was your favorite book to write?

EDB: I've enjoyed writing every book that I've written so far. If I'm not enjoying it when I write, I feel that I must not be doing something right and I rethink it. (I believe that if the author doesn't enjoy what she's writing, the readers probably won't enjoy it either.) that said, I may have have enjoyed writing The Wide Awake Princess a bit more than the others. I loved working various fairy tales into the story.

Secondhand Charm by Julie Berry

Evie is a young girl who lives with her grandfather, friends and neighbors in a small village called Mundley. Evie is a very intelligent woman who wants to be a doctor more than anything, and is studying to become one. During the village festival Evie buys three gypsy charms, that later will bring much help and luck to her and everyone around her. When the king arrives for the festive feast, one of his men becomes very ill. Evie, uses her medical skills to help the man get better. During the king's visit, Evie is given a scholarship to study at one of the king's universities. Evie's grandfather sends Aidan, one of Evie's best friends, on the journey with her to the university. On their way to the university, highway thieves, rob Evie's carriage, and kill the driver. Aidan and Evie go through a long journey to finally reach the school. Before the two reach the big city, they board a ship. The ship is about to sink and everyone is about to die. No one dies, however, because they are saved by Evie's leviathan, a snake protector, which she discovers that she has had since the day she was born. During the ship accident, Evie's loses her scholarship papers. When she goes to the king to get her papers replaced, Princess, soon to be Queen Annalise sees Evie and takes her under her wing, eventually sharing with Evie that she too has a leviathan. Annalise teaches Evie much of what she needs to know about having a leviathan. Strangely, duringher stay at the castle, Evie sees one of the highway thieves frequently there.

Why is the highway thief there? What happens to him? Does Evie end up falling in love with Aidan? What happens to Evie's leviathan? does anyone end up finding out about her snake? Do the charms Evie bought from the gypsies work?

I absolutely loved this book. I thought it had a great story line, twists in the plot and ending. I also loved how it was both fantasy and magic. I think it was a great book.

She lived with her father, the King, and her mother, Queen Emma, who was the Green Witch in charge of magical issues in Greater Greensward. Millie was about to marry the love of her life Audun, who was a dragon that could turn into a human. One day when Emma was summoned to help with a problem, she left Millie in charge of the magical issues and to take care of her brother, Felix. A little while after Emma left, Felix went missing. Gone, vanished....KIDNAPPED. Millie was beside herself. Everyone in the castle went searching for him. When no one found him, Millie new exactly what to do. She and Audun turned into dragons and went searching high and low for Felix. When they were unsuccessful, Millie went to seek the help of three witches. With the help of the witches, Millie and Audun were able to find the kidnapper, who had done something strange to Felix. That was bad news for Millie. With her mother, father and great-aunt and great-uncle nowhere to be found, Millie and Audun first had to find them. With some great difficulty, her family was found.

Who took Felix? Why did he steal Felix? What strange thing had happened to Felix? Was it revenge? How is Felix fixed? Do Millie and Audun get married in the end?  

Read this great book to find out!!!!!

I recommend this book to kids in 3rd or 4th grade. I think they will like it because it is fantasy, mystery and a great book. I interviewed E.D. Baker, so check back in a little while to see the questions and answers.

Other than falling in love, Doug must deal with being a vampire, his best friend as well as other friendships.

How does Doug deal with being a vampire? How does Doug escape from all of the pressure of being exposed?

I loved this book, and how detailed it was.

I recommend this book for 14 and up or for 9th graders for its use of language and sexual action in the story. All in all, I thought it was a great book.

Little Blog on the Praire by Cathleen Davitt Bell

Genevieve Welsh was a normal teenage girl waiting to spend her summer with her friends swimming and hanging out. Her mom decided that the family was going to a camp that reenacted the life in the 1890's. Of course Gen didn't want to go. Gen's parents promised that if she went and didn't complain she could get a cell phone. Her mom left her cell phone on the table and Gen took it.

At the camp Gen was trying to make EVERYONE miserable. She learned how to milk a cow, do laundry, wash dishes and games that kids played. After each incident with Nora (the daughter of the owners of the camp) Gen would text her friends. One day Gen was walking in the woods and she came across some kind of shack. She walked into the shack and guess who Gen sees.......Nora! Nora was listening to Gen's iPod and drinking soda. Obviously Gen was not supposed to see that. Nora was mad, however she let Gen charge her dying phone.

After a while one of the kids, Caleb, who Nora and Gen both liked, showed Gen that ALL of her texts had been turned into a blog.

What was Gen supposed to do now, she had told her friends about everyone and everything? Are she and her family going to be kicked out of camp? Who ends up going out with Caleb? What happens to the blog? What about Nora?

Together the Kane family visits a Museum. Their Dad tells them to leave the room. Being Sadie and not liking to listen to rules, she takes Carter and they go and spy on their Dad. What they see is very surprising. They see their dad taking the Rosetta Stone and saying spells that release Egyptian Gods and break the stone. Dr. Kane is then put into a golden box and taken away by the God, "Set".

Amos, Sadie and Carter's uncle, take Sadie and Carter back to his house where he explains why all this strange stuff is happening; the Rosetta Stone, the Gods, and why they can do magic. The truth is Carter and Sadie Kane are magicians and are hosting Egyptian Gods (I'll get to that later).

Soon after the kids arrive at Amos's house, Amos has to leave. After he leaves the house, the house is attacked by monsters and minions of Set. Bast (A.K.A Muffin, Sadie's cat), who turns out to be the Cat goddess, comes to the rescue and saves Sadie and Carter.

Bast takes Carter and Sadie to the House of Life. There the kids are introduced Zia, who tries to teach them different types of magic and how magic is used. They also find out that Sadie is hosting the God Isis and Carter is hosting the God Horus.

Sadie and Carter set out on a journey to Destroy Set and save their father before the Demon Days. Along the way, Sadie and Carter run into a lot of trouble with other gods, monsters. They also learn to use their magic and communicate and work with the Gods inside them.

One night during the long journey Carter's Ba (mind, soul) has a vision of Set building a red pyramid to help him gain his powers. Carter and Sadie know where they ha ve to go.

Do Sadie and Carter rescue their dad? What happens to Isis, Horus and Osiris at the end? Do the kids defeat Set before the Demon days? Do they defeat him on their own? What happens to Zia? Read this action pact book to find out.

I liked this book a lot because it was full of action, magic and mystery. I think anyone in 4th grade and up should read it.

Look who I met at BEA!!!

I went to BEA a little while ago. There I met a lot of publishers and authors. One of the authors I met was Rick Riordan. He wrote the Percy Jackson series. He just came out with a new book called "The Red Pyramid". Guess what... Rick Riordan signed it for me. I also got to take a picture with him. (as you can see above). It was so COOL. Check back in a little while to see my review of his newest book "The Red Pyramid".

I also got a preview of his newest book "The Lost Hero" which won't be out until after the summer. So check back to see a review later.

The Book Seat is this really cool beanbag pillow that has a plastic band at the bottom so your arms don't hurt when you read. I think it is great! I have been using it since Book Expo America (BEA). It holds thin books, text books and anything in between. It is very comfortable and doesn't hurt no matter how heavy the book is. Anyone who loves to read but is tired of their arms hurting should get this pillow. It comes in many different colors: blue, purple, red, brown and more. I love it. All The People I Met At BEA

I spent two days roaming the Javitz Center in search of new books and to meet new people, authors and publishers. Some of the really cool people I met include: Angela Johnson from Ripley's, their newest book "Enter If You Dare" is coming soon (hoping to get a sneak peak); Marina Shults has "The Red Pyramid" written by Rick Riordan which just came out; Deb Shapiro the Director of Publicity of Bloomsbury and Walker Books was really great, she gave me a lot of books to read and review (check back soon for the reviews); Megan Marie Fitzpatrick of Hachette Book Group gave me an audio book of "Witches and Wizards" which I can't wait to listen to; Paul Samuelson, a Sourcebooks publicists gave me great blogging advice and offered to send me books to review; Erin Dempsey from Penguin Young Readers Group was really great and spent time talking to me about different books; Samantha Grefe' from Scholastic gave me a copy of the book "Plain Kate", I am so excited to read it; Mark Forti and Camille Miller who published "Slightly Above Time", I cannot wait to read it!; Tina Proctor spent a lot of time talking to me about "Ophelia's Oracle"; Sarah Wilcox from Guinness World Records was there with "The World's Most Tattooed Lady". The 2011 book comes out in July; Jessica Kaufman from Little Brown showed me the cover of "It's Not What It Looks Like" sequel to "The Name of the Book is Secret"; met Alexa Peter's dad, she illustrated and wrote (with her mom) "Cooper and Me" (going to try and connect with her when school ends); stood in line with Lyra Rose, she has her own blog which you can read at www.lyrarose.com, she gave me advice on different books and suggested I read them; and Charles Nurnberg, he is the President and Publisher of Imagine Publishing. His newest book is "The Night Before Christmas" which has a CD of music performed by Peter, Paul & Mary. At the end of BEA, Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey read the book aloud and sang a whole bunch of songs. It was so COOL, I got to sing with them in front of a whole bunch of people. They even signed a CD for me. Check out the pictures above.

On Gwendolyn's sixteenth birthday she was pricked and everyone in the kingdom, (except for Annie) fell asleep. It was up to Annie to find Gwendolyn's true love to kiss her which would wake her up. At first, Annie traveled alone in the forest, but was then joined by Liam, a guard from the castle who was not at the Castle when the curse happened. Annie and Liam get into all sorts of trouble. Along the way they pick up princes who they think could possibly be Gwendolyn's true love. Annie learns many secrets Liam is hiding. Were they secrets that were better kept quiet? Who is Gwendolyn's true love? What happens to Liam and Annie? Do they fall in love or is it Liam's kiss that wakes Gwendolyn?

I recommend this book to third graders. I think they would like this fairy tale with a twist.

Baking with Friends by Sharon Davis and Charlene Patton

This cook book is very unique. I like the way the illustrator, Collen Mcintyre, illustrated all of the pictures with different animals and colors. My favorite pictures and animals were the pink flamingos and the green turtle. I thought they were well drawn and had such cool colors. This book contains fun facts, tips and words to help children learn to cook. Baking with Friends comes with a DVD read aloud by my friend Pam Atherton. Since I am a lover of chocolate my favorite recipes were "Hot Fudge Pudding Cake" and "Fudge Brownies". One thing I loved more than baking these delicious chocolate treats, I loved eating them so much more. This is a great book for any aged child to learn how to bake. Once you have baked something, make sure you fill out the really pretty certificate in the back of the book. Make sure to read some of the really cool quotes written by different people on the back of the book. (They are really interesting too!).

This book is about a boy named Branwell. After something happens on Columbus Day Branwell cannot speak. On Columbus Day Branwell's baby half sister Nikki, went into a coma. Branwell is taken to Clarion County Behavioral Center where he sits for 27 days of silence. Connor, Branwell's best friend is the only one who can get Branwell to talk. With the help of his sister Margaret, Connor is able to find out why Branwell's not talking. Branwell and Connor find a way to communicate. Through this communication, Connor speaks to people who Branwell suggests to help Branwell to talk. Can Connor get the true story before Branwell is convicted of manslaughter? If Branwell says he didn't hurt Nikki who really did? Was it Vivian, Branwell's babysitter and crush? Or Morris who worked at JJ's Pizzeria? Could it really be Branwell? You'll have to read this exciting mystery that may silence you to the bone. This book is good for 7th or 8th graders. It may be good for 6th graders who can handle such a tough subject. I recommend this book to any 7th or 8th grader or adults who like a sad but mysterious book.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

It is back to school time for Percy. One day at gym, Percy and his friend Tyson, who turns out to be a cyclops are playing dodge ball with a bunch of monsters. The monsters blow up the school. Annabeth comes and rescues Tyson and Percy.

The three of them go back to Camp Half- Blood. Something was strange about the camp. Thalia's tree, (the tree that protects the camp and is the daughter of Zeus) was dying. Chiron, the camp director and Percy's teacher wasn't there. Percy and the rest of the camp learned that Tyson, the cyclops was Percy's brother.

One of the children of the God Aries, was sent on a quest. Grover had left camp to find the god Pan. Unfortunately Grover was kidnapped by a cyclopes. Luckily, the cyclops was guarding the golden fleece coat that could also heal Thalia's tree. All Percy and Annabeth had to do was rescue Grover and get the golden fleece.

Annabeth and Percy went through a lot of trouble to sneak out of camp, save Grover, and get the golden fleece and manage to stay alive.

Do Annabeth and Percy save Grover? Do they get the golden fleece? What happens to Thalia's tree? Read the next book to find out.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes mythology and fantasy.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

This book is about a boy named Percy Jackson. Percy lives with his mom and step-dad in Manhattan. On a school trip to an art museum with his friends, Percy is attacked by a monster. Nobody but Percy, his friend Grover and his teacher Chiron can see the monster. Because of this, Percy is kicked out of school.

Percy and his mom go on a vacation to a beach where they have a house and love to be. A little while after they get to the beach it starts to rain. Grover, who is a styr (half human half goat), tells Percy and his mom to leave. Percy's mom takes Grover and Percy to Camp Half-Blood. This is a camp for children who are demigods or half gods. (One of their parents is a mortal and the other is a god). On the way to the camp, a manitore captures Percy's mom. Percy just destroys the manitore in time before it killed him.

At Camp Half-Blood, Percy learns to fight, and prepares for a quest. At his first capture the flag match, Percy learns that he is the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea.

Now that everyone knows Percy is the son of Poseidon, Percy gets a quest. His quest is to find Zeus's lightning bolt. Zeus thinks Poseidon took it. Poseidon, though could not have taken it, because gods can not take each others powers. Unfortunately Percy only has until the winter solstice to find the bolt. If he doesn't find the bolt, there will be a huge war that could destroy the Earth. Percy takes Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, and Grover, the styr, on his quest to help him.

The Kids run into a lot of trouble along the way. They meet gods in the near future that might want to kill him, and a lot of other problems too. Annabeth, Grover and Percy find themselves in the underworld with the god Hades trying to rescue Percy's mom.

Can the children return from the underworld with Mrs. Jackson? Does Percy and his friends return the lightning bolt? If Poseidon didn't steal the lightning bolt, who did? Does Percy return the lightning bolt in time? Read on to find out what happens.

This is a great book for anyone into Mythology and fantasy.

Chloe and Mackenzie become best friends with Jasper too. A few days later when the 3 friends entered the music room, something from Mackenzie's diary was written on the board. She need to find her diary, and fast. She thought her friend Chloe took it. Mackenzie wanted to sign up for a talent show, so she has written a song in her diary. Unfortunately whoever found it knows the song and all of her secrets. The next day another one of Mackenzie's secrets ends up on the white board in her music class, she is very upset. Mackenzie thought her new friend Chloe took it. When Chloe wasn't looking Mackenzie went into her locker and looked through her books. Chloe saw her and was really mad. Chloe didn't talk to her for a very long time after that. When Mackenzie found out Chloe didn't do it, she thought Jasper did. She went over to his house and went through all his stuff. With great trouble and a lot of accidents and with the help of his friends, Charlie is determined to help Henry. There is only one problem. Henry's cousin is trying to get rid of him. Will Charlie and his friends save Henry? Does Henry die? Does Henry have get to see his brother again? To tell you the truth, I'm not telling you so Ha. No, what I'm saying is read the book. She also gave him a bag that she never wanted to look at because Mr. Tolly (someone who she is related to) gave away her sister's baby for whatever was in the bag. Everyone wanta what was in the bag, and Charlie had to hide it really well. A few days later, Charlie found out that he needs to rescue Mrs. Ingledew's niece, who goes to the Bloors Academy. Charlie is finally sent to Bloors Academy, where he meets his friends Olivia, Billy Raven, Fidelio and a few others. But, Charlie and his friends also run into trouble with Manfred Bloor and Asa. They were the mean kids in school. Somehow, everyone finds out about the bag. (I'm not going to tell you how they find out, that would be mean.) Does Charlie have enough time to save Mrs. Ingledew's niece? Do Charlie and his friends succeed at doing this? How does everyone find out about the bag? Who has been telling all of Charlie's secrets? (The answer may surprise you). This is a great book for anyone who is 10 or older.

While Robbie, Ray and Miri were out looking for the treasure, one of the twins broke Miri's glasses and Miri hit her brother. Miri was punished and sent to her room. While she was sitting in her room, Miri found an old lens taped to her wall. She looked through it. The next thing Miri knew, she was twirled into a whole new place, or so she thought. Miri then realized she was at her house 70 years earlier. She met a girl named Molly who lived in this house. Molly told Miri that she was sent to save her and how her cousin is so mean. Miri said she would do her best. Does Miri save Molly? Do Robbie and Ray find the treasure? Is Miri able to return home? What kind of a blogger would I be if I gave you the answers and the end of the book. Ok so blame me but you have to read the book.

I read the book, and it was great. This is a great book for children in 3rd grade to 5th grade. This is also a great book for anyone who likes mystery, magic and fantasy.

This book is a great book for parents. It answers the 50 most asked questions by kids and Dr. Susan answers them all. The questions are broken down into various chapters like 'Who's in charge?" and "I'm Scared", but my favorite chapter is"Nag, Nag, Nag". I recommend this book to any parent with a child from third to fifth grade. When you read this book you will understand why children ask these questions, and Dr. Susan Bartell will give you a psychological answer.

Inkheart is a great book. It is about this man named Mo who has such a great talent. When he reads about the characters and objects they come out of the book. There is only one problem, when something comes out of the book, something must go in. One night when he was reading to his daughter Meggie and his wife, a character came out from the book and his wife went in. One night Dustfinger, the character Mo read out of the book the day his wife disappeared, showed up at Mo's house and asked to be read back into the book. Mo's problem was that he couldn't read things back into the book, he could only read them out.

One day Meggie and Mo went to Aunt Eleanor's house so Mo could help fix her books. Meggie realized she has the same talent as her dad so she decided to help Dustfinger.

Will helping Dustfinger hurt Meggie? Will Mo realize Meggie has great talent? Will Mo and Meggie rescue their wife and mother back from the book? Read Inkheart to find out. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy and who likes long and detailed books.

I recommend it if you are in fourth grade or higher.

They have to fight the Blue Queen to get the dog. Do they get the dog back? Do they win the fight between the Blue Queen? Do the kids go back to visit the people on the music box? What happens at the end of the book? Well I'm not telling you so I guess you have to read on to find out! I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, adventure and is in the grades of 3rd-5th.

This is a great book about a boy named Bran who was found in a bank vault when he was a baby. He now lives with this awful family who doesn't really like him that much. When Bran was born his mom wrote this note, but now Bran only has half of it. One day Bran went to the park with his family and suddenly stopped the bus with magic. In the town where Bran lives, magic and mages (people who can do magic) are not allowed. Someone who works at the bank is a mage like Bran, and she teaches him about magic. This helps Bran kind of figure out who's his mom. Another girl also helps Bran, but in a different way. Does Bran figure out what happened to his mom? What sticky situations does Bran get into and will people find out he is a mage? Read on to find out what happens. I recommend this book to anyone who likes magic, mystery and adventure.

This book is about a young boy who lives in an orphanage but is too smart for his school. So one day when he and his tutor were eating they found a weird ad in the paper. It said "Are you a gifted child looking for special opportunities?" His tutor said he should go and see what it was. So he went and he had to take a test. He was the only one to pass. So they told him to come back later, he did and he passed again. There were a few more tests after. He made it through all of them. What were these tests for? What happened after the tests? What was his mission? Read on to find out!!!!

School of Fear is a great book for anyone from third grade and older and for anyone who has any fear. It is about four children who go to a special school to help them with their fears. Along the way the children have to complete a task which will help them get over their fears. The children must face their fears to complete the task. Can they face their fears? Are they going to complete their task? Will they get rid of their phobias? Read on to find out what happens to these four children. I really liked this book because it had great details and it showed how anyone can get over their fears if they try hard enough.

It is about a girl name Cameron who goes to a spy school and is trained to accomplish missions. One day Cameron meets a boy and really likes him, but she can't tell him anything about her spy life. He wonders what's going on because his friend suspects Cameron goes to the spy school and the boyfriend thinks she's a home schooled girl with a cat named Suzie. Will he find out she is a spy? Will they still be boyfriend and girlfriend? Read on to find out what happens.....

I just read this great poem book by Bruce Lansky called My Dog Ate My Homework. I loved it. I think anyone who likes poems would like this book. My two favorite poems are " How to Delay Your Bed Time" because at night I usually delay my bedtime, and " Daddy Forgets My Name" because my daddy always calls me my sister's name and I sometimes find it funny and sometimes annoying. I think you all should read this book because it is funny and it has cute poems. So go ahead read it and tell me what you think.
